Message from IMARS President on Nancy 2012 Symposium

Dear Colleague,
the date of the Centenary meeting is approaching and the Scientific Committee is dealing with abstract evaluation. IMARS Council decided to allocate 10.000 $ to promote the participation of young scientists to the Nancy meeting. (www.maillard-nancy.fr)

To this aim 10-15 papers among those presented by PhD students will be selected by the Scientific Committee. IMARS will pay the registration fee and gala dinners for the winners (about 500$). A travel grant of 500$ will be added for those coming from outside Europe.

To widespread this opportunity and to enlarge the meeting participation (about 200 abstracts have been received up to now) the paper submission was extended to April 30th.

Results of the evaluation will be released by May 15th so there will be one month to register at the lowest fee.

We kindly ask to those already submitting an abstract to inform the IMARS office ([email protected]) in the case the presenter was a PhD student (ongoing or finished in 2011). Depending on financial availability also papers presented by Post-Doc students can be considered for the awards at the discretion of the Scientific Committee.
I’m sure all of you will contribute to make this centenary meeting a very successful event!

New IMARS Highlights, Call for Paper

Dear All,
the “IMARS Highlights” are almost six year old, and the IMARS council has decided to restyle their mission and publication focus.

In the future, IMARS Highlights will also publish students’ contributions, including the (short or extended) abstracts of the PhD and MSc theses on the topics related to Maillard reaction and protein glycation. In addition, the Highlights will be available via Google Scholar.

The idea is to give immediate visibility of ongoing research before publishing the data in the research paper.
This publication strategy can have two main advantages:

  1. Your students will have their name on a (first) publication in the newsletter of an international Society indexed on Google Scholar
  2. Your research increases the immediate visibility among the Maillard community promoting collaborations.

Highlight will also improve the existing section “Highlights of the literature” to give people info about the hot articles published in the last three months. There will be different “Highlights literature” sessions on Food Science Nutrition and Medicine

Finally a session on research shop will be realized and it will include various products (e.g. analytical standard and analytical services available by the members of the society). Details of the contribution to this session will be available on the IMARS web site soon.

We would like to publish the first new issue in March so please encourage your students or junior postdocs to send their latest conference or thesis abstract thru our dedicated page: http://www.imars.org/online/?page_id=3842 by March 1st.

Dear Colleague,
finally the centenary year arrived and the Maillard Symposium in France is rapidly approaching. The Scientific Committee set up a very exciting program covering all the aspect of “Maillard Science”. Beside the plenary sessions, we decided to have three simultaneous sessions to allow many people present its research. I hope all members and friends of the Society will not miss this unique opportunity and I kindly ask you to make all the efforts to favour the participation of colleagues and fellows of your research group.
To get the IMARS registration fee the membership for 2012 is necessary so please remind to renew your membership as soon as possible this year.
