News from the President

I hope that this year begun well for all of you.

The Society has some important news for this 2011.

1)     I’m very happy to announce that a Glycation section in the journal Amino Acids has been established this year with Naila Rabbani and Paul Thornalley as Editors. The founding edition has a collection of collaborative reviews by glycation researchers on topics in food and biomedical sciences All IMARS members are invited to submit their articles to this Journal (having an Impact Factors around 4.0). Simply select the Glycation Section in the on line submission procedure. Articles on all topics related to the Maillard Reaction research (food, nutrition, chemistry, biology, medicine) are welcome. I think this is an important opportunity for all of us and I wish to thank Naila and Paul on behalf of all the Society for initiating this.

2)     Preparations for the Maillard Reaction Centenary Symposium will begin this year. Our French Colleagues are working to have an unforgettable event next year in Nancy. On the IMARS web site and on the congress website you will receive all the necessary information in due time.

3)     I hope to meet many of you (particularly from EU) at the Cocotea Meeting in September. Please can I remind you that for IMARS member there is a special registration fee.

I wish to thank all those who are helping me in the Society work and I encourage all of you to renew the IMARS membership as soon as possible.
